That is on purpose. We are developers, and we only carry themes we would put on a client site.
Speed comes first
A slow theme costs you before a visitor reads a word. Heavy code means slow pages, and slow pages lose visitors and search rankings.
So the list starts with the fastest lightweight themes:
- GeneratePress with GenerateBlocks. This is our number one, and the pair we build on ourselves. We carry GP Premium and GenerateBlocks Pro.
- Astra. We carry Astra Pro.
- Neve. We carry the Neve Pro add-on.
You don’t have to take our word for it. Search for the fastest WordPress themes, or the best ones, and the same few names keep landing at the top. They are the ones on this page. Run your own test before you commit. The ranking changes with the site you build.
Running a store? These lightweight themes work great with WooCommerce and Easy Digital Downloads. Getting the shop to look just right can take a little more tweaking, and it is worth it.
The core theme is free. We sell what extends it.
GeneratePress, Astra and Neve each have a free core theme on wordpress.org. Install that from WordPress.org.
What we sell is the premium add-on that extends it: the extra layouts, controls and blocks. The theme is free. The add-on is the part with a price.
The proven sellers
Some jobs need more than a lightweight theme. These are not the lightest options. They are proven, they are maintained, and each is right for one specific job.
- Flatsome for WooCommerce stores. It is the best seller for shops, and the best runner-up if you would rather not tweak a lightweight theme.
- Avada and Divi for page-builder sites. Both are long-standing leaders and both are actively updated.
- BuddyBoss for community sites. For that job it is the one real option.
If your site has one of those jobs, pick the one built for it.
What we leave out
Two kinds of theme never make the list, and both cost you far more than their price.
Bloated themes. They ship with hundreds of demos and features you never switch on. Your site loads all of it anyway and turns into a slug. The front end crawls for your visitors, and the dashboard crawls for you. Every click is a wait. You spend hours upon hours building your site, and by the end you just want to cry.
Unproven themes. A theme is only as good as the people still updating it. When a small developer goes out of business, the theme stays online and nobody fixes it. The next WordPress update breaks something, the next vulnerability never gets patched, and the site you poured weeks into has to be rebuilt on something else.
A shop selling thousands of themes can’t stand behind them all. We would rather stand behind a few, so you only build your site once.
