Every WordPress site needs an SEO plugin. It writes your titles and descriptions, builds your sitemap, adds the schema that puts star ratings and prices under your search result, and tells you what to fix on a page before you publish it.
Two premium plugins lead the field: Rank Math Pro and All in One SEO Pro. Rank Math counts more than 4 million users. All in One SEO counts more than 3 million. Both do the core job well, so the choice comes down to how each one is put together and what you pay to get everything you need.
This comparison walks through both, then puts them side by side on setup, what comes in the box, switching and price. You can find both, plus their add-ons, on our SEO plugins page.
The short answer
Tip: For most sites, pick Rank Math Pro. Local SEO, image SEO, redirects and news and video sitemaps all come in one plugin. Pick All in One SEO Pro if you already run it, or if you build in a page builder it plugs into and like its TruSEO page scores.
Rank Math Pro at a glance
Rank Math Pro keeps its tools in one plugin. Install it, run the setup wizard, and it asks what kind of site you run before it sets anything. A blog, a shop and a local business get different defaults, so you start with settings that fit instead of a wall of switches.
Once it is running, every post and page gets a score out of 100, built from 30+ SEO tests. Each failed test tells you what is wrong and where. You fix the list, the score climbs, you publish.
What comes with Rank Math Pro
- A setup wizard with a simple mode for new users and a custom mode for developers
- 30+ SEO tests on every post, with a score out of 100
- Schema for 840+ types, a custom schema builder, and the option to import schema from any website
- Local SEO for businesses that serve a town or a region
- WooCommerce SEO for product pages
- Image SEO: find and replace alt text, titles and captions across the whole site, and add captions automatically
- XML sitemaps that update on their own, plus news and video sitemaps
- A redirection manager for every common redirect type, synced to .htaccess if you want it there
- A 404 monitor with a log you can export
- Google Search Console integration
Page builder users get something extra. Rank Math adds a breadcrumbs widget to Elementor, and turns Elementor and Divi accordions into FAQ schema without extra markup.
Everything on that list lives in one download. That is the case for Rank Math Pro in a sentence.
All in One SEO Pro at a glance
All in One SEO, or AIOSEO, runs on millions of sites. Its on-page checker is called TruSEO. It grades each post as you write and tells you what to change: the title, the description, the keyword, the headings, the links.
AIOSEO is built as a core plugin with add-ons. The core covers the everyday work. Bigger jobs, like local business SEO, image SEO and redirects, come as separate add-ons you install alongside it.
What comes with All in One SEO Pro
- TruSEO on-page analysis with a score for every post
- A schema generator for rich results in Google
- Smart XML sitemaps, plus video and Google News sitemaps
- A robots.txt editor
- Social media controls for how your posts look when shared on Facebook and other networks
- Breadcrumbs
- IndexNow, which tells search engines about new and updated pages right away
- Google Search Console integration
- An llms.txt generator, which tells AI tools what your site covers
- WooCommerce SEO for product pages
- Integrations with Elementor, Divi, SeedProd, Avada, WPBakery and Thrive Architect, so you set SEO inside the builder
The AIOSEO add-ons
These are separate downloads on 99Plugs, each its own product:
- Local Business: local business schema, so you show up when someone nearby searches
- Image SEO: sets alt text, titles and captions, and cleans up image filenames
- Redirects: redirects, 404 tracking and full-site redirects for a domain move
- Link Assistant: suggests internal links and reports on the links you already have
The add-on model has an upside: you install only what the site needs. The cost is more items to buy and keep updated.

Setup and day-to-day use
Both score your posts as you write. Rank Math asks what kind of site you run and sets defaults to match. Its two modes are the difference you notice: simple mode hides what a beginner does not need, custom mode shows a developer every option. AIOSEO’s TruSEO checker is clear and friendly, and many people who learned SEO on it stay for that reason.
Call this round a draw. Pick the checker you like reading.
What comes in the box
This is where they split. Rank Math Pro ships local SEO, image SEO, redirects, a 404 monitor and news and video sitemaps in one plugin. AIOSEO keeps sitemaps in the core, but local SEO, image SEO and redirects are add-ons.
For one blog, that gap is small. For a client site that needs local SEO, redirects and image SEO, it is one plugin against four.
Switching from one to the other
Rank Math imports your AIOSEO settings in one click, schema included. If you run AIOSEO today and want to try Rank Math, you keep your titles, descriptions and schema instead of starting again.
Price on 99Plugs
Each plugin on 99Plugs costs $4.99 for a year of updates or $9.99 for lifetime updates. Rank Math Pro is one item. AIOSEO Pro is one item, and each add-on is one more. A VIP Access Pass covers all of them, along with every other plugin in the catalog.
Worth knowing: a 99Plugs copy is the developer’s own file, and the plugin works the same. Anything that runs on the developer’s own servers, like AI writing credits, comes only with buying direct. Updates reach you 24 to 48 hours after the developer’s release.
Which one should you pick?
Pick Rank Math Pro if
- You want local SEO, image SEO and redirects without extra installs
- You set up sites for clients and want one plugin to manage on each
- You run AIOSEO now and want to move without losing your settings
Pick All in One SEO Pro if
- You already run it and your team knows TruSEO
- You build in SeedProd, Avada, WPBakery or Thrive Architect and want SEO inside the builder
- You only need the core and would rather not install tools you never use
Three sites, three picks
Maria builds sites for a plumber, a dentist and two cafés. Every one of them needs local SEO, and every rebuild leaves old URLs to redirect. With AIOSEO that is the core plugin, the Local Business add-on and the Redirects add-on on each site. With Rank Math Pro it is one plugin, and the setup wizard asks what type of site it is before it sets anything. Maria picks Rank Math Pro.
Tom runs a WooCommerce store with a media library full of product photos, most of them without alt text. Both plugins handle WooCommerce product pages. Rank Math Pro’s image SEO finds and replaces alt text across the whole media library in one pass, with no add-on to install. Tom picks Rank Math Pro.
Priya writes a food blog, built in SeedProd, and has run AIOSEO since her first post. She knows every TruSEO warning by heart, she needs no local SEO, and her redirects are a handful. Switching buys her nothing she lacks. Priya keeps All in One SEO Pro.
Two of the three land on Rank Math. The third stays put for good reasons, and that is the honest shape of this choice.
For most sites, Rank Math Pro is the better pick. It does more in one plugin, it imports from AIOSEO, and it costs the same.
