About This Plugin
This add-on for Paid Memberships Pro calculates sales and use tax at membership checkout through the Avalara AvaTax cloud service. Tax is applied to every member checkout automatically, and your Avalara account can handle monthly or quarterly tax filings. It needs an active AvaTax account. The add-on is being deprecated and gets only minor updates and small bug fixes.
Settings include Record Documents in AvaTax, Show VAT Fields at Checkout and a Site Prefix for transaction codes. Each membership level has a Tax Category with a Product Category ID. You can mark a user as exempt from tax on their Edit User page and pick an exemption reason.
Recurring payments are sent to AvaTax too, at the tax rate from the original checkout. A refund in Paid Memberships Pro tries to void the transaction in AvaTax.
