About This Plugin

WPML String Translation is an add-on for WPML. It translates every text that does not live in a post or page: the site tagline, admin screens, widget titles, plugin and theme settings, button labels and error messages. If WordPress, your theme or a plugin shows the text on the front end, it can be translated. The add-on comes with the Multilingual CMS and Agency plans.

It works with anything that uses WordPress's standard translation functions, so there is no list of supported sources. It also watches the front end as visitors browse and flags the strings that actually display, so you translate what visitors see instead of every registered string. WPML reads each theme's and plugin's wpml-config.xml file on activation, and you can override or extend it under WPML Settings, Custom XML Configuration.

Strings appear in the Translations dashboard next to posts, pages, taxonomies and media. The same translation methods apply: automatic translation, your own translators, or Translate Everything Automatically.
