MemberPress User Roles Add-On

User Roles lets site owners set specific WordPress user roles per membership. Members get different roles depending on their subscription status. The roles are added to the default role set in WordPress » Settings » General. They do not replace it or roles that other plugins add. A user with no active memberships gets the default role.

The feature now lives inside the MemberPress core plugin, so it is no longer a separate add-on. You find it on the Advanced tab of each membership's options under MemberPress » Memberships. A role added to a membership applies to new signups, not to existing members.

Roles can activate features in other plugins. A forum plugin can give members with a role access to groups other users cannot see, and an events plugin can offer discounted registration to members with a role.
